The grass is always greener...

My poor little boys...they long to live outside with the other guys, and they just can't. The white ones (Bert and Ernie) can't hear (and we don't want them to suffer the same fate that their dad did at the house at which they were born) and the black one (Emmitt) is really just not very smart and tends to head straight for the street...so letting them roam outside unsupervised is out of the question. They do get out sometimes, but the hard part is getting them back in...

Bert is on my list today because when we let him out for a little while he crawled waaaaaaay up under the back porch and could not be enticed out, even with the bag of treats I waved at him from my spot in the dirt (on my knees, my head turned upside down, while Casey dog rolled around beside me and pulled on my hair--fortunately this was pre-shower...). After about 30 minutes of being nice, I finally got the hose and flushed him out...although water doesn't bother him too much, since we used to have to put him and his brother in the shower when they were babies...long story! When I was finally able to get him out, he was a little less white than he was going in...so I took him and put him in solitary confinement, in the bathroom, to clean him off.

While I was cleaning him off, Ernie and Emmitt gathered outside the closed door. When I opened the door, I saw that they had been trying to look under it to see what kind of trouble their brother was in...their expressions were very much like two little boys who were snooping--so funny! They slinked into the bathroom, walked over to him and sniffed him, and then sat on their haunches and stared at him the entire time I was in the shower. I have obviously raised judgmental felines.

LOL Where was Chrissy with the camera during all this??? I love that you "flushed him out." My husband would be all over that!

Oh my what we do for our animals! You have beautiful cats...do you think the white cats are deaf because they are white in color? Take care...karla

How funny. I understand completely. I have a cat that wants out and a dog that wants in. Sometimes I catch them sitting at their respective sides of the back door staring at each other. Probably both thinking, "Oh, to have what he has..."
